My name is Lisa Marie Jost. I was fortunate enough to find a beautiful studio to rent on Filaree Heights Rd. I lived there with my dog Gigi. She is a 20 lb Morkie. I loved my home and the safe community of Malibu. It was a dream to live there. I left for work on Friday not realizing it would be the last time I would see my beautiful little home. When I learned of the evacuations it was already to late for me to go back to save anything. All I wanted was my Grandmother’s vase and my pearl necklace I was going to give my daughter for her 25th birthday so she could where it on her wedding day. Like so many others, everything I owned is ashes now.
I will say I am very fortunate and more than thankful it was a Friday. It is the only day I take Gigi to daycare. If it had been any other day of the week, I would not have been able to get back to her to save her. I feel blessed because she is alive and still by my side.
I do have renters insurance but it isn’t enough to cover the loss of every I own. Due to the fact that I have renters insurance I was declined by FEMA for any assistance other than possibly a loan. I am not in a place to take out a loan.
Thank you so much for your kindness to strangers, whether it is me you choose to help or someone else who has also been devastated from the fire.
